Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570XXKPK Android 2 3 4 Gingerbread Firmware Official KIES Update Stock ROM

Heres the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread Stock ROM for Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570 with build number S5570XXKPK with CSC_SERKPK and build July 21st 2011. This is an update firmware for Europe version of Galaxy Mini and recently officially released from Samsung KIES server over Russia users.

If you want to try it out on your Galaxy Mini and see what features and improvements or bug fixes that has it might be, you can grab a copy of it at samfirmware.com, for they have managed to ripped it and packed as stock and can be flash by using ODIN.

Heres a guide on how to manually flash it via ODIN multi-downloader tool.

1) Download the file from the above page including the OPS file and ODIN downloader tool.
2) Extract to a folder using the password provided by samfirmware.com. Dont rename it or extract again.

3) Run ODIN multi downloader, and load up  the TASS.OPS file for your phone.
4) Select "One file package" from ODIN and in look way down, theres the one package selector, click it and browse to the S5570XXKPK_S5570XXKPK_S5570SERKPK_HOME.Tar file you got earlier, and click it.

5) Connect your Phone to PC in "Download" Mode (By turning off the phone, clicking the Power Button + Home button + Volume down button).

6) Once all set and everything is in place, click "START" button and it should take no longer than 3-5 minutes and youre done
7) When the flashing successfully completes, the phone will restart and may take a while to start up, this is normal. Then go to settings, change the default language which is in Russian to your Region.

8) Boot into recovery mode, clear the cache partition. To have a clean and fresh firmware installed.

Where is Apples Mac OSX headed

There have been conflicting rumors about where Apples Mac OSX is headed. One line is that Mac OSX is going to wind up in a tablet, a new soon to be released Apple iPad Pro. The newly released Mac OSX Lion does look like it was designed with touchscreen in mind. The other line is Apples MacBooks will move from from Intels x86-32 and x86-64 to the ARM architecture. The third is that touchscreen will be coming to the MacBook.

Apple could build tablet with keyboards, like traditional Windows Tablets which are useful to certain degrees, and could become popular if Apple can find a way to cut down on the weight. Or it could simply be bringing touchscreen functionality to laptops and desktops. Typing this on my laptop, I am not sure I would rather use a touchscreen to navigate rather than the touch-pad. Touchscreen laptops and desktop, is possible, but it wont be a game changer.  

The other possibility Apple makes a Mac OSX tablet. Mac OSX to a tablet is not the hardest part, but the interface of software designed to run on Mac OSX would have to be redesigned. Creating new ecosystems for new hardware is something that Apple has done successfully twice, first with the iPhone than the iPad.

The other possibility, is that Mac OSX could be approaching end-of-life. Moving the MacBook line-up to iOS and ARM is possible, as ARM processors are getting more and more powerful by the year. With iOS running instead of Mac OSX, ARM processors should be more sufficient and more efficient in terms of power. This would mean having to expand the iOS app ecosystem to include devices with keyboards. The main advantage the Windows has over Mac OSX is available software. Expanding the iOS ecosystem may be easier than convincing Windows software providers to make Mac OSX version of their software. This would also move MacBooks into their walled garden. This would be a real game changer. I am betting on the third.

How to update Samsung Galaxy S 4G using the T959VUVKI1 via Odin.

1) Download the stock ROM  .tar file.
2) Extract  the .tar file you just downloaded, the password is samfirmware.com. It will become .tar.md5 file extension then.
3) Start Odin downloader
4) Click "PDA" and load the .tar.md5 file you just extracted into it.

DO NOT SET ANY OPTIONS IN ODIN

5) Turn off the Galaxy S 4G then set the device into download mode - Hold Vol+Up & Vol+Down button,  then plug it in to the PC and Odin will recognize it.
6) Once detected in Odin, hit Start and wait for your phone to flash, reboot, and load to a lockscreen
7)  Turn your phone off and disconnect it from USB.

Nokia Windows Phone 7 seemed like a good idea

Last December we posted that Nokia badly needed a new operating system,  witing that "(t)he reality is that, unless they can get something out soon, Nokia is most likely better off jumping on the Android bandwagon or even maybe even better, supporting the Windows Phone 7 platform, before it is relegated to selling feature phones." Apparently, they did have a very good bun in the over after all.

Nokia with Windows, or Android or Nokia made sense back than. Now we are wondering why. GSMArena has had it first look at the Nokia N9, running the MeeGo Operating System v1.2 (Harmattan).

The N9 has a power a volume rocker button, but has for any hardware buttons to manipulate the operating system. There is no need to press the power key to revive the phone from sleep mode, a simple double-tap of the screen will revive the phone. There is also no back button. A swype of the from edge to edge will bring you back to app launcher or task manager.

We are getting ahead of ourselves. The OS centralizes  everything in three homescreens. The first screen keeps track of all notifications: calls, SMS, email social network updates and other system notifications. The second screen is your app drawer or app launcher where you will see all installed apps. The last screen is the multitasking cards pane which will show you  running apps on grips. The lockscreen had four customizable shortcuts, in line with new trends to make the lockscreen more functional.

With this operating system in the works did Nokia really Windows Phone 7. We felt they did, but were expecting that by the now Nokia WP7 phones would be on the market. The MeeGo ecosystem will be richer than the WP7 ecosytem by end of year. MeeGo based phones will be able to run Android apps.

With a MeeGo 1.2 based phone coming out first, does Nokia really need WP7?

OS yang dipakai oleh Ace 2 ini sama dengan handphone Samsung Galaxy W. Tetapi harga memang lebih murah sekitar dua ratus ribuan. Keunggulan galaxy w ini terletak pada frekuensi processor yang lebih besar. Tetapi bukan berarti Ace 2 tidak ada bagian yang lebih baik. Kita lihat saja misalnya pada sisi memori, ternyata Ace 2 lebih baik. Untuk spek yang lain kurang lebih sama dan berimbang.

Pada range harga dua jutaan lebih dikit ini masih ada smartphone samsung lainnya yaitu Samsung Galaxy Infinite yang merupakan seri lebih baru. Selisih harga dengan kedua ponsel ini juga pada kisaran dua ratus ribu rupiah. Produk yang lebih baru tentu saja OS nya lebih up to date dengan android jelly bean.

Keunggulan Galaxy Ace 2 dibanding Infinite antara lain adalah, resolusi kamera yang lebih besar. Sedangkan kekurangan Galaxy Ace 2 dibanding Infinite adalah OS nya yang kalah baru, fitur dual sim dan processor yang kalah cepat. Spek lain seperti jaringan, kualitas layar,memori dan baterai yang digunakan relatif sama.

Mobile internet for all Samsung Galaxy Y PowerSurf Edition

I am not all that found of Android phones with low resolution 240 x 320 screens like Samsungs Galaxy Y. Some Android apps wont run, or at least well at this resolution and web browsing is not all that much fun. If you are buying a low cost Android, I would advice adding 1-2K and get a phone with a higher resolution screen.

But when Globe Telecom offers a phone we are not too crazy about (like Samsungs Galaxy Y)  with at a Php299 a month 300MB per month volume data plan, well it changes my mind. Why, basically they are giving me a phone worth about Php6K, but I get to pay for it over 24 payments over the next two years totaling just a bit more than 7K. On top of that I get 300MB of data per month for the next two years.

A smartphone without a data plan really is just a call and SMS phone which makes a good gaming platform and music player.  While the Samsung Galaxy Y wont make a great gaming platform it is fine for data communications.

With a volume data plan, all of sudden you can keep your instant messenger on the whole day, get updates from your social networks in real time and get your emails in real time. For these activities, the low resolution 240 x 320 screen of the Samsung Galaxy Y is more than sufficient. Web browsing, VOIP, uploading pictures and dowloading will eat up 300MB fast, but for internet communications it should really last a whole month.

Data plans are also the best way to communicate with love ones abroad. Kudos to Globe for opening up the internet to more people at a very low price.

Baldwin Street Duenedin New Zealand the steepest street in the world record!

Baldwin street is the steepest street in the world! It is situated in Dunedin, New Zealand.  The streets length is about 350 meters and it originates from North Road and ends at the intersection of Buchanan Street.
 Baldwin street is listed in the Guniess Book of Record as the steepest residential street in the world.  This street rises up to a heigh to 80 meters!  The steepest section is about 161.2 meter and the level of life is generally 42.22 meters and which usually correpsond to the slope of 38 degrees!
 
 
 
  From the year 2002, there is an even conducted as the "Cadbury Jaffa Race" on Baldwin Street.  The part of the festival called "Dunedin Cadbury Chocolate Carnival".

This is a charity event which is carried out each year in July and more than 30,000 Jaffas which is rolled down on the street from the top to the bottom.
 Before starting the event, each candy gets its own number printed on an adhesive paper and the paper is pasted on the chocolate ball. This done so because candies be distinquished from one to the other.  Each Jaffa is sponsored by a person and also with prizes for the one who wins and the money collected will be denoted to charity.

 This event follows a tradition which begun in 1998 where 2,000 tennis balls were rolled down Baldwin street in a sponsored event that includes raising money for Habitat for Humanity.  The candies usually take 15-20 seconds to complete the race.  Shortly before the candies finish their race, they come into a special funnel and the first five chocolate balls pass through the funnel are the actual winners

iPhone 6 Explosion downloads on the App Store

According to the advertising Fiksu the release of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus last September has just exploded the number of downloads on the App Store. Its simple, Apples application store had never recorded as downloads since its creation in July 2008.

Taking into account the 200 most downloaded free applications from the App Store, downloads have increased by almost 40% during the month of October. 7.8 million applications were downloaded during the 30 days. This explosion is also due to the habits of consumers who download all the necessary applications with the purchase of a new iPhone. Users were also challenged to discover applications optimized for the new iPhone. Finally, iOS 8 brought some innovations such as alternative keyboards that also helped boost the number of downloads.

Fiksu also notes that the first applications downloaded by iphone users will often be those who will be most used later and the overall budget allow to purchase applications has obviously declined.
